You Know You're Getting Older When.....

Its not even 5:00 on New Years Eve and I am already in my pajamas. I've got some big ass steaks marinating and just opened a bottle of red. Its gonna be a good night... I can feel it. And by good night I mean that Chad and I are going to eat and drink and may or may not be asleep before midnight. And I'm ok with that. Really. We were originally planning on going to the Blue's hockey game tonight, but I told him I'd much rather stay at home. It seemed like he wanted to go out until he saw the weather report that the high temp for today was 70 so he grabbed his fishing pools and took off at the crack of dawn this morning. Living in the Midwest is a funny thing. Last weekend we were enjoying our white Christmas with temps in the 30's. Yesterday we were in the 50's. Today we experienced thunderstorms complete with tornado sirens going off. Several tornadoes touched down in the area! After the storms the temp was in the 70's and sunny! So weird! Normal winter weather is supposed to return tomorrow and probably won't get its sorry ass out of the way until April. But anyway........ I've got some laundry going and am getting ready to start preparing dinner for when my fisherman gets home. I hope everyone has a very safe and happy New Year!!!!!!! Love to all my family, old friends and my new blog friends!!!!
Happy New Year!!!! XO!

Goat Cheese Cheeseball

What you need:
1 pound cream cheese, at room temp
1 stick butter, at room temp
1 1/2 cups goat cheese
1/2-1 cup mexi shredded cheese
6 tablespoons brown mustard
crushed nuts
crackers to serve
cute cupid the reindeer cheese spreader

Step 1) Beat the cream cheese until smooth. Add very soft butter cut into small pieces. Blend well. Add goat cheese and mustard. Blend well. Add in mexi cheese until cheese is able to form into a ball. I put the ball of cheese into the freezer to harden just a bit before rolling in nuts.

This project was a huge fail for me. I intended for the ball to be in the shape of a pine cone and to have the sliced almonds sticking out of the ball to look just like a pine cone. Welllll cheese was too soft to form a pine cone shape. Annnnd the stupid sliced almonds were too thin to push into the cheese. But I improvised and still had a yummy finished product.

5th Annual Girls Ornament Exchange

Every year for the past 5 years I have planned a girls night during the holidays to exchange ornaments.  The first year included 6 girls. This year we had 9! I look forward to this get together all year long and am always sad when its over. The past 4 years we have always gone to restaurants for drinks/dinner to do our exchange. Welllll this year was the best yet because not only was our exchange held at a winery... we made it a potluck too! This super cool winery we went to allows you to bring whatever you want in to eat. And man did we ever! We had crock pots, casserole dishes full of yums, beer cheese dips and of course a cake pop display that was courtesy of yours truly. Our exchange works because everyone buys their ornament, but we don't draw names until right before we trade. That way if anyone backs out at the last minute nobody will get left out. Here are my pictures from the party!

The banner I made to decorate.

My cake pop display.

All the ornaments ready to be exchanged!!!

And here is a picture of each girl with the ornament she received.

Group shot!
I brought some holiday head gear for some fun picture opts.
And in honor of my vow to keep it real here at Cheese Grater here are some pictures from my dance performance. Yes. My dance performance. At the winery. Somebody had a bit too much wine setting up for this little shindig. And somebody thought it would be a good idea to preform a made up dance routine to Mariah Carey's "All I Want For Christmas Is You." And yes THAT SOMEBODY WAS ME!
I'm such a lucky girl to have such an amazing group of girlfriends! A few of us have been friends for 20 years if you can believe it! I am so thankful that I went to a private grade school because I was in the same class with some of my girlfriends from kindergarten until 8th grade so we got super close and still remain that close. I love my friends!!!!!

Busy, Busy, Busy!

Well December has pretty much kicked my ass this year! It seems like it was just the end of November and all of a sudden Christmas is here! I have what feels like a million new posts to do so I'm just combining all the little posts into one huge one. Soooo here it goes.....

So far this month I have....
Made tie-dye cupcakes which I loved. I wasn't a huge fan of how the frosting turned out. I was hoping for a very deep purple.

I got asked to be a bridesmaid in my good friend's wedding this month! So excited for her! She's the 2nd from the left.
I made this little cake pop display this month. It was for Chad's niece's birthday party. It took forever to paint the Styrofoam block and to dip all the pops into different color melts, but I was very happy with how the final product turned out.
I hung out with S at the party!
This month I also got to use my huge cupcake molds for the first time.

This month Mom, Nick, Chad, Betty, S and I attempted to go see Santa at our local Irish Pub. Yep that's right. Irish Pub. Well Mrs. Claus got in an accident and Mr. Claus had to cancel last minute, but we still had some fun.
I made this cake pop display this month. I'd say its the best so far!

I ate something called grizzly balls. Cheddar cheese, shredded chicken and wing sauce all rolled together then battered and fried. Amazing!

I etched another canister.

And Chad turned 29 on Monday! So we celebrated by having lunch w/ my parents. Then going to the Blue's hockey game with Chad's family and friends. Then the next day we went to the Ram's game with his parents.

And Chad and I had some huge t-bones on his actual bday to celebrate.

Other things I have done this month
1) Growing my eyebrows out to reshape them. I hate looking in the mirror currently because all I see is my huge bushy eyebrows that aren't quite ready to reshape.
2) Cooked a lot of new dishes that I'm excited to share!
3) And I'm saving the best for last. Last weekend I may or may not have puked in a plastic grocery bag in the backseat of Chad's dad's truck after having too much fun the night before. Good thing he has a great sense of humor and thought it was funny and didn't think that his son is dating a hot mess.
And there you have it! The month of December so far! Hope you enjoyed catching up on my life.
